I know this isn’t exactly dessert-related, but I LOVE me some Rascal Flatts! “I’m Movin’ On”, “God Bless the Broken Road”, “Fast Cars and Freedom”, “Banjo”, and Joe Don naked in the “I Melt” video, I mean, come on, what’s not to love about Rascal Flatts?!!
A few days ago, I was invited to attend a special theater event featuring Rascal Flatt’s new album Changed and post a review about it. Ummm, yes please!
On Thursday, April 5th at 7pm (CST), fans in select movie theaters across the country waited on bated breath for Rascal Flatts-CHANGED: One Night Exclusive Movie-Theatre Event to appear on the big screen, and I was one of them! The movie was presented by NCM Fathom Events, Big Machine Records & AEG Network Live and featured a special concert performance from the Franklin Theater here in Tennessee that highlighted all their greatest hits and awesome new songs from their new album Changed. There was also one-on-one interviews with each band member, Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus, and Joe Don Rooney, as well as, special moments and interviews with their families.
I was blown away! Blown away! Not only was this a great concert movie production, but watching the guys talk about the ups and downs of being in a band, their personal experiences and memories, why they are where they are musically, who inspired them, what made them make the decision to continue together amidst the chaos of losing a label and a management company they’d been with for 10 years, it was all completely inspiring!
I cried big ole tears when Gary talked about playing the Opry and wishing his grandmother was there to see it. I laughed so hard I almost peed when Joe Don’s son Jag farted on camera. I cried again when Joe Don talked about a Christmas picture with the grandparents and his son, and how emotional he got realizing how important that simple photo was because he never got to meet his grandparents. Having been a “tour widow” myself, I felt the pain the wives and kids endure when daddy is on tour for almost 300 days of the year. When Jay talked about having to re-evaluate after 10 years, I felt inspired to set new goals for myself and my businesses. Here it is days after watching the movie, and I still can’t shut up about it. I’m so happy that I got the opportunity to see it on the big screen! It was awesome!
I think the greatest take-away from the movie was the whole premise – Changed. The “Changed” song idea came from Neil Thrasher watching his daughter get baptized and coming out of the water “changed”. The band felt they’ve changed both personally and musically after 10+ years together. If you are a Rascal Flatts fan, I think you are really going to like this new album.
The boys start their Changed Tour in June, and they are giving away a trip for 2 and tickets to see them live this summer! You can enter on the Rascal Flatts website!
Disclosure: I was provided with tickets to the movie event and information in order to facilitate this post, and I am eligible for prizes and incentives. All thoughts, opinions, and undying love for Rascal Flatts are 100% mine.
