SunButter Stovetop Cookies #peanut-free

This week my ebook was released! Woohoo! So, for the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing recipes that work great for a Cookie Exchange.

Today, I’m making my great-grandmother’s stovetop cookies, but I’m altering them a bit for our peanut allergy.

It’s been 10 months since we’ve had peanut butter in this house. TEN MONTHS. I NEVER thought I could live without peanut butter, but we’ve found some great alternatives like SunButter. So, if you are making Christmas goodies for someone with a peanut allergy, these cookies work great!

SunButter Stovetop Cookies

SunButter Stovetop Cookies

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips (We use Enjoy Life which is processed in a dedicated peanut-free facility)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup SunButter
  • 3 cups oats

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine butter, sugar, chocolate chips, and milk.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly to keep chocolate from burning.
  3. Once mixture starts to bubble, cook for about 2 minutes, stirring constantly, until sugar is melted and mixture thickens.
  4. Remove from heat; add SunButter and oats.
  5. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper.
  6. Cool completely before storing in airtight container.
