We are continuing the “Spring Clean” theme this week with a little giveaway!!!
Several months ago after the severe food allergies diagnosis, I started removing some of the foods, preservatives, toxins, and other chemicals from our home and began a more “natural” lifestyle.
I first started with my pantry, removing anything that could in any way possible contain peanuts or eggs. I was very surprised at how much that actually was! That’s a whole post for another day…
After the pantry, I began removing cleaning products that had ingredients I couldn’t pronounce, and I started making my own homemade versions using recipes from a book my sister was using to make green cleaning products. Not only were these homemade versions cheap and easy to make, but they actually worked! Because the cleaning supplies are more natural, the girls can help out, and they ENJOY doing it! Vinegar, water, baking soda, and essential oils are the all natural and safe things I use to clean my house.
The strongest thing I use is Borax for cleaning the stubborn toilet bowl stains or occasionally as a laundry booster. Although a natural substance, it can be harmful if swallowed, so I keep the box high up on the laundry shelf where the girls can’t get to it. I’m also careful not to let it get in my eyes or touch my sensitive skin.

So, what is Borax?
Borax, or sodium tetraborate, is a natural mineral produced by the evaporation of seasonal lakes. Once removed from the ground, it is washed, dried, and boxed for consumer use. Absolutely nothing is added. No phosphates, chlorine, or other additive chemicals.
How can you use Borax?
20 Mule Team® Borax is best used as a hard water softener. When used with your detergent, Borax softens hard water which protects your detergent, maximizing its cleaning power.
Over 85% of homes have hard water that contains calcium and magnesium ions. When you add detergent to hard water, some of the compounds attach to calcium and magnesium granules that settle on the bottom of your washing machine, eventually retreating down the drain without actually cleaning your clothes.
Using 1/2 cup of 20 Mule Team® Borax along with your regular detergent will help improve your detergent’s cleaning power and help keep stains from being re-deposited back onto your clothes.
20 Mule Team® Borax would like to give THREE Cajun Sugar Pie readers each a FREE box !!!
